In the late 1990’s, Dr. Knight fought diligently to assist Congress in passing the Aviation Medical Assistance Act, which allowed defibrillators on airplanes. His other achievements include being one of the nation’s first surgeons in the southern region of the U.S. to perform a toe-to-thumb transplantation and the first to implant the Freehand System, a computerized system used internally to improve performance.
